Preservation Publications
Publishing that Respects the Value of Your Collections
A
publisher of scholarly material on microfilm, we are also dedicated to meeting
the preservation needs of our clients by providing them with archival-quality
microfilm services.
We ensure the long-term accessibility and quality of our publications by providing the donor institutions with the Master Negative film of their collection. We market our publications to the global research community, providing silver-halide service copies of 35mm microfilm at competitive prices. Preservation Publications provides all of the sales and marketing efforts necessary to promote the collections and pays donor libraries royalties on the sales.
We provide archival-quality microfilm masters to donor institutions, along with a set of positive microfilm copies which can be used by researchers. Preservation Publications retains a Print Master (a second-generation negative), which we use to produce positive microfilm copies for sale to the academic community, both here and abroad. The donor institution keeps its own masters-indeed, owns those masters. We merely retain the rights to the distribution of the copies and pay the donor library royalties on the sales.
We contract with reputable microfilming companies around the country to provide the filming and quality control and guarantee that all film meets RLG standards for archival quality. We provide all customers with silver-halide positive microfilm copies, all properly boxed and labeled. We provide all of the sales and marketing efforts necessary to promote the collections, including visits to libraries, attendance at regional, national and international meetings and exhibits, mailings, telephone sales campaigns and, of course, a web site.
If your library or archive is interested in working with us to identify and distribute collections within your holdings that may be of interest to other institutions, please contact us.
